Barrie Anxiety Counselling
Helping you move out of fight or flight.
You may have arrived here if….
Are exhausted from always fighting anxiety.
Are struggling with shame that you can’t seem to overcome this anxiety even though you’ve prayed the prayers and memorized the verses.
Are struggling with guilt with how anxiety has prevented you from being the wife/mother/friend you want to be.
Want faith to be an important component of healing your anxiety, but you’re fearful of ways that faith has increased shame.
Want support from a Christian therapy who can integrate the latest psychology research (biology, neurology, physiology, psychology) to help you understand why you are experiencing what you are experiencing and how God created our nervous system.
However you arrived here, I’m grateful that you are here. Read on to see if my anxiety counselling services might help you.
You may find it difficult to be the kind of person you want to be.
You want to connect with others and show them who you are, but you are too anxious. You worry about saying the wrong thing and play back every conversation, overthinking things. You might cope by putting up a false front to others of feeling confident and relaxed when you are filled with tension inside.
You might feel afraid to tell people how much you are struggling. You might feel embarrassed or ashamed and think that as a Christian, you shouldn’t be struggling like this.
If this is you: you need a space where you can be truly honest with how you are struggling. You need a therapist who can help you work with your nervous system to create lasting healing and change. You need someone who truly understands what it’s like to struggle with chronic anxiety and can offer you compassion and a way out.
Your chronic anxiety is not bad, weak, or a sin. I see your anxiety as your nervous system desperately searching for safety. Your body is speaking to you using this anxiety. And that’s by design, by God’s design.
We can learn how to listen. Together we can work with your nervous system and identify what’s pushing your system into the fight or flight state and determine what it needs to move into safety, where anxiety is not needed.
I can offer you a roadmap to moving your system to safety and peace. Anxiety can feel so overwhelming, but you don’t have to do this alone.
